There is so much frustration in ministry at times, so I am so happy to share this with you. As I mentioned last week, our church is beginning the “Pray 10 in 2010.” I presented it to the congregation in the newsletter and in a temple talk this past Sunday and then passed out the sign up sheet (and the letter I put in my last blog).

I also made a second challenge to the church. I told them that I was hoping that fifty people from the parish (I pastor a two point parish) would sign up for this. I said, “But I’ve been praying about it and I want to change that to fifty people per congregation or a total of 100 people!

This past Sunday 93 people signed up!

We will have a second Sunday of sign-up on the 17th and then “Pray 10 in 2010″ kicks off on the 19th. And we will make our 100 people! I thank the Lord for putting the audacious challenge before me, and for having the Holy Spirit move through the church in such a powerful way.

For pastors this is great not only because it gets people to get into a regular routine of prayer – which I pray will become a regular part of the congregations life, it also gets people to pray for the ministry of the church – which I think is too easily forgotten today, and it is also easy to implement – There is not a lot of work for the pastor to do once it is kicked-off. Besides praying for the prayers and giving them encouragement each week, the pastor doesn’t have to be burden with another Bible study or program to arrange.

I really want to encourage you to try this! Pray about it.

God bless, Dan
